“Messe de Minuit” is the latest release from this Greek band. And… They continue releasing good music. Yes, it’s true…

They started in 1991, released a few demos and one EP and then in 1994… Puff… They disappear.
For me, they are of the pioneers of the famous “Hellenic Black Metal” together with Varathron, Necromantia and Rotting Christ.

“Messe de Minuit” is one EP and it lacks for just one thing. Few songs.
Yes, only because of that, ’cause the feeling and the true feeling of the Hellenic Black Metal is there.

Many persons say that DISHARMONY plays, Black Death Metal. Well… They can play and they do, but at the same time, they don’t. Strange? Well, a bit. But in the past and at the beginning, all OLD Black Metal bands played this mix. The Black Metal style was not so defined or “established” like it is today. But since I love the Black Metal made in the Greek lands, old or new I decided to do this review.

So, let me start…

“Hail The Witch” is the first song that starts with a kind of “Intro”, I must say that is a kind of “typical” from this old school Black Metal Greek bands but I don’t care. I LOVE IT. The same “Intro” is atmospheric, epic and is the correct “bridge” for what I will start to hear. The riffs are simple, effective and paced. When it starts to go faster, it continues simple, no need for blast beats, but it also has it in a few parts. The feeling is there. The keys appear several times. Not “abused”. Just giving a special touch in the music.

“By the Moonlight” is the second song and for me the second-best song of this EP. The riffs, the leads, the drum, the voice, the keys (few). PERFECT. Yes, PERFECT. The old Hellenic Black Metal is here. They are unique doing it. They manage to create “something” that you cant see/listen to in another place. DISHARMONY is doing it correctly.

“Into the Tomb”, maybe is the faster song in this EP, some solos, more “details” and the main riff is the faster one in the whole EP. They manage to create and transmit a “feeling” that catches me first the first note.

“Corpus Christi” the fourth and last music (or not!). It is much more mid-tempo, more keys in the song, giving it more “power” more “weight”. For me, this is the most “elaborated” song in all EP, more riffs changes, more complete you think. No, just more elaborate compared to the rest of the previous songs and for me the best song of the EP.

“Midnight Mass” is the last song. Well, it will be if you get the LP or CD version. Cause in the tape format… You will not have it.
I understand why. The song has 22m32s. Yes… And this song is… Well, this song a kind of “Ritual” with some recitals, some keys reminding the Church organs, at the same time reminding some invocations to the Lord of Darkness, the lord of the underworld. Well… All these… It doesn’t remind or just looks. It is… It is a mass, a Satanic Mass held by Kapala King v and his Ordo.

It’s the perfect “ending” for this EP.
In resume after hearing this EP several times. “Messe de Minuit” is the perfect proof that the old Hellenic Black Metal is alive and is very good and DISHARMONY is here, to show to all how it’s done. The riffs, the drum, the bass, the keys, and the vocals. All damn good. Congratulations and thank you for that. 8.5/10 The Key Keeper
