The death metal underground scene is boiling, there`s no doubt about it.
And we all benefit from that. Now I think this extends to all metal scenes. Luckily for all of us, metal lovers and fans, the heavy machinery does not seem to stop its productive march and in 2020 the forecasts are very encouraging after an overwhelming 2019 in terms of new album releases and the emergence of new bands that have previous experience of their members who have been working before in other projects. And I say luckily, for us, that this never stops!

In this particular case, we will move to Spain to meet with PROSCRITO, a death metal trio from Catalonia. “Llagas y Estigmas” (in English: “Sores and Stigmata”) is their debut album after having released an EP called “El Calvario” in 2017.
This amazing record sounds dense, creating a dark atmosphere in each song, using loud percussions that will leave your head hanging down, thunderous bass and extreme vowels that seem to squirm into a devilish possession. From the first second running, the sound will drill your cranium in a hard way. When I pressed the play button it was exactly as I thought it will be.

First of all, I want to say that this album needs various listens to discover new things, new deep sounds, and hidden pearls in this treasure. These guys have done a superb work crafting slow and churning tracks
The last two tracks are very dense, dark and it´s a total invocation to the dark evil in a blackened doom style. “Marcado por la Pezuña” will make you feel in a ritual invoking Satan`s presence. The last piece “Pantalgia” it`s an instrumental piece fulfilled of the dark atmosphere with mid-paced riffs and heavy drum work. The bass lines are exquisite.

They have done more than a good job in beating the listener into a bloody pulp, with the vocals constantly uttering darkness and the guitars strumming praising pagan riffs. This is a great way to start 2020, and I hope PROSCRITO will gain fans around the world with this magnificent album and the new ones that come in the future. Till next time. 8.5/10 Jammerfal
