METAL PROUA’S JANYARY’S IN ROTATION LIST

Sadistik Forest – Morbid Majesties (2018)

This gruelling, relentless and powerful Finnish death metal album is the third full-length release from Sadistik Forest. It hits hard from start to finish, so if you’re craving some top-notch death metal and think you have the endurance to withstand the onslaught, then give this album a try.

Celtefog – Outlands (2019)

Celtefog is an impressive one-man black metal project from Greece and since it’s release last year, I have used every opportunity to immerse myself in the latest album, Outlands. It is an absolutely gorgeous offering oozing with rich pagan ambience and atmosphere. If you haven’t heard this one yet, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Hellripper – Coagulating Darkness (2017)

This is the mind-blowing and energetic debut album for Hellripper, the Scottish, one-man black, speed metal act. The album conjures an upwelling of nostalgia within me, as it feels like this style of music nods toward some of the 80’s metal greats. Track one perfectly illustrates the frantic pace and strident approach that the album takes. If you somehow missed this in 2017, it’s not too late to dive in.

Moongates Guardian – Cold Waters of Anduin (2020)

This is the latest release from Moongates Guardian, a Tolkien-themed, Russian atmospheric black metal band. If you aren’t afraid of a little medieval synth or a thick folk edge, then you may be interested. This album was my first purchase for 2020 and I was not disappointed.

Eluvian – The Doom of Edendalk EP (2019)

This next choice has been creeping up on me over the past month, eventually finding it’s way into my high rotation list. “The Doom of Edendalk” is the latest EP release from Norwegian melodic death act Eluvian. Aside from being catchy, straight-up melo-death, there is a hint of folky-synth here and there, which I find quite interesting. Oh, and just check out the cover art! The EP’s spectacular artwork is by Luke Oram.
