BAZ Friday XLIII – Underground Reco For Underground Maniacs

3 min read

Well… This last week with so many things happening all over the world, and we all know what I’m talking about, I’m avoiding to say the name, I still had time to listen to some good music. I hope you can enjoy this recos as I did… Enjoy your Friday and stay safe.

Band: Idolos
Title: Ahi Cab
Label: Anthrazit Records
Release date: 27 January 2020
Country: Unknown
Format reviewed: Digital Promo

The first release from this band from… Well, I could guess two or three countries from the info I found, or at least, I think that they are related to those countries. So let us talk a bit about the music and theme around this EP. They are back from space. “We, Idolos from Venus, have just come back to Earth in these troubled times to bring back order and restore trust in your heart.” “With the first part of this sonic message we want you to reconnect with the strength and power we delivered to Hunahpú and Xbalanqué, the Hero Twins of what became the Mayan creation myth.”. Well, I did some research about this theme, I knew a few things (very few to be honest) and I found very interesting things. You should do it too. About the music, maybe you already thought, since they came from space, they play Space Black Metal. Well, comparing with other bands that I know playing that music style, not really, but if I relate them with the first part of the transmission… Then yes. Divided into 4 songs, this EP is quite interesting and very good. Sadly I didn’t get the lyrics. And, now… I curious to listen to the next release.

Band: Prometeus
Title: Necrofagia
Label: Independent
Release date: 13 January 2020
Country: Italy
Format reviewed: Digital Promo

This Italian band does not bring anything new to the Black Metal with the “Necrofagia” album. It is the second album from this old band, they started in 2008 (first release). The sound is a bit raw, the music is direct, the tempo changes sometimes are abrupted and for many persons, could be nonsense or WTF happened? But after several times listening to this album, it sounds ok, and it starts to make a bit of sense. This album is not a masterpiece, but I think you should give them a chance and listen to it.

Uh la la. To start, I have to say this. I’m not a big fan of Technical Death Metal, but this band with this EP is so, good, and not boring. Yes, this is what I think about the majority of the Technical Death Metal bands. They try to show that they can play so much, with plenty of notes by second and they get boring. fortunately it is not the case of this band. This band is really good, with very well structured songs, with killer riffs. YOU MUST CHECK THEM.

Wow… This release is amazing. Yes. The right word to describe this band is AMAZING. The music they play is not just one style. They are related to Drone/Doom/Black/Death Metal/Crust and the mix is so well done. Really. I think that you will enjoy them. Yes, go for it and give them a try.
