Baz Underground Updates X

4 min read

Hard to believe that it’s been 10 weeks already, but here we are with BAZ Underground Updates X. This week feels like it’s been especially brimming with announcements. We’ve sifted through them and whittled them down. We believe there should be some tasty morsels for you here.

Let’s see what’s out there…

Label: Horror Pain Gore Death Productions

Those lovely folks at HPGD have put together the Coronavirus / COVID 19: Free Bandcamp Sampler available for free… on bandcamp (obviously). This is a great introduction to some of the skull-splitting horrors you can treat yourself to on the album. You have absolutely nothing to lose. Feel like you need some extreme metal? Some grindcore? Death metal? Black metal? Thrash? Sludge? Step this way…

Label: Black Lion Records

We keep mentioning them because they just keep going with the great offers. Black Lion Records continue with their excellent May offer of ‘buy 2 CDs, get 1 free’ as well as a 25% off offer on bandcamp and their new big cartel site. The offer will continue all through June. This time for the discount, use the code JUNE25 (big cartel) or june25 (bandcamp). Show the label some love, check out the great catalogue, sign up to their mailing list and follow them on social media, so you can keep updated on all their offers. Check out a sample from their catalogue below.

Graphic Nature Audio is going to present to us the We Can Do Better all day live stream charity event, hosted by Will Putney on the 14th of June 9AM PST/12PM EST. A $10 charity donation to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) will automatically add you into the massive giveaway raffle that is ahead and just by checking out Sound Rink Live you can read more about the event, as well as donate to this great cause. A collective of artists and labels are scheduled to partake in the livestream such as Trivium’s Matt Heafy, leading metal news page Metal Injection and the number one online merch store and record label Nuclear Blast. Keep an eye on the Sound Rink Live webpage for further information about the live stream this week and the huge giveaway they plan, a good cause is always worth supporting.

If you are familiar with the Norwegian death punk band Turbenegro, and if you have loved Hank von Hell for the past 25 years, you won’t want to miss the live stream coming up on the 15th of June. The band´s former lead vocalist Hank is planning on streaming a live concert from the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg at 9pm CEST/ 3pm ET/ 8pm BEST/ 12pm PDT, and on the same day Hank will also release his new studio album Dead via Columbia Records and Sony Music Entertainment. Tickets are available here as well as you can head over to Hank´s webpage and read more about the event.

Band: Disamara

From Naturmacht Productions, a label dedicated to quality underground metal, strap yourself in for some no frills Finnish black metal. Following in the footsteps of BURZUM, DISAMARA is a solo-project and “Notturna è la Quiete” the debut release. Fans of no bullshit black metal should not be disappointed. You can check the full album streaming on bandcamp here and with the official release on June 11th you can currently pre-order the album on CD that comes with a sleek A5 booklet.

Band: Cirkeln

Another very cool upcoming release from Naturmacht Productions, CIRKELN take Tolkien mythology and feed it through a black metal grinder “Kingdoms That No One Remembers”. Released on June 25th, you can pre-order the limited blue vinyl coming in a A5 digipak + booklet. Check it out here and if you like these bands you might consider picking up a Naturmacht subscription. You can read about the benefits via the link above.

Band: Mr. Bungle

Any MR. BUNGLE fans should already be well aware that the core band (alongside metal titans Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo) have been playing some shows and revisiting their early metal days (well they were before Covid fucked everything up). The band have teased some goings on the studio, so hopefully we’ll see a new album coming our way sometime. As a first offering with this new lineup the band has released their version of USA”originally byTHE EXPLOITED. All of the proceeds go to MusiCares Covid-19 Relief Fund. Check the track and read more here.

As previously mentioned, it is hard to believe it’s already been 10 weeks since we started with the UU series and we sincerely hope that we have managed to give you at least a few pointers towards offers, live streams and good causes in the metal industry. This week is no different and we do hope you take full advantage of the offers and entertainment out there that so many people have worked hard on making available to us.
