Austria already gave to us some very good bands like, Abigor, Alastor, Azahel’s Fortress, Bifröst, Disastrous Murmur, Erebos, Ewïg Frost, Folterkammer, Pungent Stench, Hollenthon, Belphegor or Summoning just to mention a few. And now…
Well, now, is time for Anderwelt. Yes, true. It was a very good journey while listening to this album. It’s the second album from this young band that started back in 2015 with the album “Schattenlichter”.
Phil Wintersberger (Vocals), Simon Öller (Guitar), Dominik Königsdorfer (Bass), Andreas Pilsl (Cello), Thomas Kössler (Drums) made “2084” and it’s an album divided into just 4 songs with an average of 10 minutes per song. And trust me, that is not boring at all.
Before I listen to music, I like to look for the cover in order to try to guess the music style, look at the length of the songs, look at the name of the release, name of the songs and try to find a connection.
Was hard with this one and I think I still didn’t make the correct connection to be honest, but one thing I managed to connect. Dark. Yes, some Dark atmosphere around this album, cover, song names, and the length of the songs. The same Dark is the connection between mankind and what is around us in this virtual world? That was the connection?
After 3 or 4 times playing the album, I decided to read the promo email that I got from the PR. And, I was right concerning the theme around the album. We all live alone in a virtual world and we are slaves of this new virtual world? Maybe… But that is another talk…
So let me start talking about the songs. Like I said, 4 songs are part of this (very good) album. A mix of, I would say maybe a Doom Metal with some Death Metal and even a little bit of Black Metal here and there. But without labeling yourself or doing copy + paste. However, it is none of the styles mentioned above…
So, the correct defination for this band is just METAL. Maybe I could say some Dark Metal cause of the feeling, atmosphere around the songs? Maybe. But I think that is better to say just METAL.
The songs are heavy, well structered, very good atmosphere around it, good riffs and a very good voice too. Bands like this sometimes are hard to describe cause they are all but at the same time they are nothing. Beware, that i’m talking about music style.
That is good? Yes, if it is very well done. That is bad? Also. It can be bad if the final result is a big mess. Luckily and congratulations to Anderwelt they made it. Very good indeed. You really need to check this band. They deserve. And they deserve this… 9/10 The Key Keeper 666
9/10 : Epic Storm!
