#BAZUndergroundUpdates LXX

Alrighty! August has made its way into our lives and the nights are starting to get darker! What better way to deal with the sad fact that summer is almost over than to check out the latest Underground Updates with our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Boatman?

So, let’s see what’s out there…

BLACK LION RECORDS Last week we included a special offer of 50% discount with Black Lion Records, and we want to take this opportunity to remind you all that the sale is still running, and all you need to do is use the code blacklion50. Enjoy!

FUCKING KILL RECORDS Word has it that the label is having an ongoing special offer in quite the special ways. What you can do, is head over here and check the video of items available, including single items, test presses, shipping returns and lots more of rare sold-out items from for example Undeath, Sedimentum and Minenfeld. Anyone who wants any of these has to buy an Aggrenation/Nulla Osta split for 5 euros (or more) in addition, and the 5 euros will then be donated to flooded record stores in the flood region in Germany. Contact killchris70@googlemail.com if you would like to make a purchase.

POSSESSION Right now it is important for us all who are waiting for orders from Belarusian label Possession Productions to have patience and understanding. The national airlines they use are of course overloaded to begin with, as we are all familiar with because of all covid things, but as we also have to respect is a certain political issue. Keep in mind that Possession has been working for more than 25 years in the underground scene and are sure that all orders will make it to the buyers now in August. However, as a makevup for the delay they are now offering a 25% discount off of our future orders, and all you have to do is use the code magik25!

BENIGHTED France’s Benighted rules and the band’s most recent deathgrind assault from last year (Obscene Repressed) was an absolute extreme metal delight. Well, Seasons of Mist have put out a new vinyl pressing of the album (white vinyl), so you know what that means: Obscene Repressed repressed. I so wanted to write that. I don’t care if I’m the only person who finds it funny.

VI SOM ÄLSKADE VARANDRA SÅ MYCKET Originally released back in 2019, Det Onda. Det Goda. Det Vackra. Det Fula, the second full-length by Stockholm’s intense, post-rock group (can we please all put the term “screamo” in the bin for good) Vi Som Älskade Varandra Så Mycket, has been reissued in a swanky new gold vinyl edition which you can get from Germany’s Moment of Collapse Records here.

DISIMPERIUM Yes it’s Sentient Ruin Laboratories, so yes it does sound like a portal opened up to the depths of hell. If you’re looking for something hellishly intense, you might want to check out Malefic Obliteration, the debut EP by extreme death/ grind group Disimperium. There be vinyl, there be merch, there be cassettes and they all be here.

MELVINS There aren’t many bands who’ve had such a long and consistently great career as Melvins. One of the forefathers of Sludge, you probably know fine well exactly what they’re all about (if not, time to go on a journey of discovery!). The latest forthcoming release from the band is Five Legged Dog, a double CD, or 4LP(!?!) collection of acoustic recordings by the band. You can check it all out here and listen to the preview track from the album. We also have alternative regional Ipecac stores listed below in our Online Stores section..

SELFMADEGOD Poland’s Selfmadegod Records have just added some merch to their online store, including caps, t-shirts and beanies. Check ‘em out here. It’s gotta be said that the label’s logo is pretty damn cool. Who wouldn’t want that on a cap, eh?

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder. While it’s our default setting to link bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative. So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.

Looks like we are at the beginning of a very fun and interesting week as so many times before, and perhaps it is that way that August has managed to silently creep up on us with no warnings? Time sure flies when you are having fun!
