#BAZUndergroundUpdates LXXI

5 min read

Another week, another Tuesday, another installment of The Underground Updates ready to dish out the info on great offers, activities and everything in between with our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Boatman.

So, let’s see what’s out there…

THIRTEEN BLED PROMISES For anyone out there who is interested in dissonant blackened technical death metal, Thirteen Bled Promises have made the track A Humanless War available everywhere to us now via Lacerated Enemy Records, including here, we also encourage you to check it out over here for the entire upcoming album and get a pre-order and check out the awesome merch and bundles!

SCHAVOT Hailing from the Netherlands, Schavot plans on releasing their debut album Galgenbrok via Void Wanderer Productions and War Productions and have now made available to us the track Droglicht which you can enjoy over here. Pre-orders for the album started on the 4th of August, and if you wish to place your order all you need to do is head over here.

FAWN LIMBS AND RIOT ACT So we heard that Riot Act podcast gave Fawn Limbs´ upcoming album Darwin Falls quite the thorough review lately which those of you who are looking forward to the album might be interested in hearing since it does include some detailed insight into the album. You can give it a listen on Spotify and Apple, and it starts around 92:45.

COLD SPRING Right now, you need go nowhere further than over here in order to access over 900 albums from just £2.50 and this special Cold Spring summer sale will continue until the 31st of August no less! And keep in mind that Bandcamp download codes will be available upon request when you purchase a Cold Spring label album.

TRANSCENDING OBSCURITY RECORDS For this month´s offer Transcending Obscurity Records is giving out free label sampler CDs in physical form for the very first time! These are strictly limited, and all you need to do is head over here, order any two items of your choice, and they will toss it in along with your order! Now, the list includes 16 CDs which range from Wombbath to Et Moriemur but keep in mind that copies of Eye of Purgatory as well as Felled are running low and they will not be repressed, so have fast hands!

NERGAL Way back in 1995 Greek Black Metal group Nergal released their debut album The Wizard of Nerath and it’s an intense little gem that’s worth checking out if you haven’t already done so. After many years of the album being hard to track down California’s Nuclear War Now! Productions have given the album the vinyl treatment and here it is for you to purchase, where you can also have a listen to the album in full in all it’s furious, shrieking Black Metal glory.

GRISLY Rogga Johansson really is in too many bands to mention (Wombbath being just one example). The latest release he’s put his name to is the 2nd by Swedish Melodic Death Metal group Grisly, entitled Salting the Earth. You can get hold of a copy here.

HELHEIM If you are unfamiliar with Helheim, knowing that band hails from Bergen, Norway should let you know immediately that they deal in harsh Black Metal (this they most definitely do), but with the band having been going since the early 90s you can also bet that they have more strings to their bow than that. Translating as “the wild rider” WoduridaR will be released on October 29th. It might sound like a crazy suggestion, but from the preview track you can listen to here could there be a trace of Killing Joke in this intense Black Metal fury? Judge for yourself and pick up a copy of the album as a pre-order on vinyl or CD.

NIGHTMARER Hmm what to say about Nightmarer? Well, they play a brand of Technical Death Metal that is not just extreme, but is quite head spinning in its technical madness. The band’s latest EP Monolith of Corrosion will be on August 27th on Total Dissonance Worship. Copies of the super limited vinyl pressings are already sold out (and they are about the coolest looking vinyl you could imagine), but you can still get your hands on the very cool looking blue vinyl edition here. Probably not for long though.

NON SERVIAM Our favourite unclassifiable French anarchic-techno-noise-metal music machine Non Serviam has been keeping very busy as of late. In addition to the excellent recently released Le Cœur Bat and Work albums, you can now get your paws on some new t-shirts and bundle options including a rather enticing yellow vinyl version of Le Cœur Bat. Head over to bandcamp to see what’s on offer.

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder. While it’s our default setting to link bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative. So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.

As last words, we would like to point out that Ripple Music has a fun little lottery going on, where in the beginning of each month one lucky Ripple Music Bandcamp Subscriber gets randomly chosen to receive a surprise Test Pressing from the Ripple HQ Vault! So head over here and become a subscriber to test your luck, and of course get all the new music they release and so so much more.

In the meantime we do hope you will have a great week ahead and continue to wash those horns!
