#BAZUndergroundUpdates LXXXVIII

3 min read

Well, it looks like December is here, and of course what else is here is another installment of The Underground Updates, with our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Boatman fresh as ever.

So let’s see what’s out there!

BLACK LION RECORDS With December rolling around, so has Black Lion Records also decided to roll around with a fabulous offer, that amounts to 25% off of everything with the code blacklion25. Head over here to check out the selection!

REXUL For fans of vintage old-school death metal like Deicide and Morbid Angel Germany’s FDA-Records have just released Erebus...Virtuosus...Alpha... by Rexul. With Christmas approaching this release comes just in time to deliver some nasty anti-Christian sentiment to offset the general Christmas cheer. You can listen to the album in full here and buy a copy online.

ENDLYSET Swedish atmospheric black metal group Endlyset released their first EP in 2020 and now the group is back with a follow up, Beholders, out now on Norwegian label Duplicate Records. Strap in for some crisply produced, but still hyper-aggressive extreme metal, which you can listen to in full here where you can also buy digitally, with a vinyl version due sometime in the new year.

NON SERVIAM / GALLKRIST The irrepressible, French electronic/industrial/noise project Non Serviam continues on with its extremely productive year by teaming up with Japanese solo black metal/ noise project Gallkrist for a forthcoming split EP and just announced are various limited edition formats of the release as well as some related t-shirts. Check them all out here as well as the preview track by Gallkrist.

PURE WRATH Melancholic black metal from Indonesia is not a word combination you see all too often, but that’s what we have here with Hymn to the Woeful Hearts, the forthcoming release by Pure Wrath due for release on February 18th next year on Debemur Morti Productions. Led by multi-instrumentalist Januaryo Hardy, the album deals with dark historical subject matter and features drum work by Yurii Kononov of the excellent White Ward, amongst other contributors. You can listen to a preview track here and pre-order the album on CD and vinyl.

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder. While it’s our default setting to link bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative. So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.

Well, it looks like another busy week filled with merch, offers and entertainment, doesn’t it? We do anticipate that Another week has gone by, and has brought us one week closer to the end of the year. As far as our writers understand, some shows and concerts are lined up for the year 2022 so we are sure that many of our readers are excited to get this year over with and into another which will hopefully be a bit more eventful. For now, we encourage you to continue to take advantage of what is out there being offered to us, and remember to wash those horns!
