MOLITOTH Release Video For “The Maze of Existence”

MOLITOTH have released a video for their new single “The Maze of Existence” from their forthcoming album simply titled You, which is planned for late 2022.

The breath-taking video was created by artist aiplague, and is comprised of over 5,000 AI generated pictures. The accompanying visuals embark on a journey with each frame evolving on from the previous in a fluid and sometimes uneasy manner; it’s Lovecraftian imagery haunting the viewer well after they have finished watching it.

The lyrical concept for “The Maze of Existence” came from the band’s frontman, and original sole member, Kyle Brandt. Brandt’s lyrics deal with the way we cope and process the loss of a loved one. As grief is a universal concept that can encompass many different emotions, the song attempts to showcase it’s effects.

Brandt had this to say:

“As I recently experienced a good friend become diagnosed with cancer, I tried to step into those shoes and ponder what could be the emotional impacts. Initial thoughts of denial, followed by creeping fear. Feelings of acceptance and surrender in a battle with hope and delay. This song is a journey through what we all eventually experience, as much as we don’t want to.”

“The Maze of Existence” unleashes a dynamic collection of powerful soaring vocals, shimmering guitar leads and pounding percussion. Contrasting elements of the light and the dark by exploring an array of tones and textures, MOLITOTH emulates these moods incorporating them seamlessly into their sound. Delving further into chaos as the track progresses, the intensity builds through changes in time signatures, momentum and instrumental layering. “The Maze of Existence” is a thrilling heavy and progressive release with a monstrous edge.

About:
Brandt is a Vocalist/Producer/Composer from Kansas City, Missouri (USA) that has released a 3-part diary series; Preface/Body Matter/Epilogue with the band A LIGHT WITHIN, and has collaborated with Post-Metal act SISTERS OF…, with critical acclaim, among others. Originally, Brandt was the only member of MOLITOTH on 2020’s album The Tribunal handling the lion’s share of work, creating and recording the release. Building on that foundation, Brandt decided to expand the band beyond just himself. First on-boarding Madelyn Robertson, a friend and collaborator of Brandt’s who appeared on The Tribunal, on guitar and keys. The pair then added drummer Sam Sartorius who has brought his deft but powerful rhythm work to the material. The sessions for the new album have seen all three members contributing to the writing and recording process, with stunning results. This has led to an organic evolution of the band’s sound which takes elements of progressive and technical metal and fuses them with impassioned lyrics and playing. This has allowed the band to shatter any previous restraints and deep dive into fulfilling their full creative vision.
