IN ROTATION: Our most played albums in October 2018

ODIUM – The Sad Realm of The Stars (Norway)
A cult symphonic Black Metal act, and their only full offering, this 1998 album never ceases to excite me. Finally got it on vinyl this year, the format this epic record deserves.

AHAB – The Giant (Germany)
Funeral Doom Metal band, describing their brand of metal: Nautic Funeral Doom. The Giant is their 3rd album, released back in 2012, 6 songs ticking in just about one glorious hour. Lyrics on this is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s novel: The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. You just can’t do Funeral Doom more beautiful and hypnotizing than this.

SAMSKARAS – Lithification (Canada)
Technical Death Metal from Quebec, a fantastic 4 track Ep with hints of prog and Black Metal. The atmosphere and technical execution on this one is amazing. My greatest discovery in quite some time.

SEPULCHER – Panoptic Horror (Norway)
Thrash Metal from Fusa, another strong contender for my favorite album of the year. This is all over the place in a good way. The influences of Doom, Death & Black Metal in this old school sounding dirty album makes my old Metal Heart skip a few beats…

VIDSYN – On Frostbitten Path Beneath (Norway)
Black Metal, a mini LP released back in 2004, another cult classic of Norwegian BM, originally a self-released demo CD in 100 ex., picked up by Agonia records in Poland and released on both CD and vinyl. A one-man band with sole member Nattsjel, on this he had some prominent guests though; Nocturno Culto, Hellhammer and Seidemann giving some celebrity flare to his album. Back then it led to the fact that most people paid more attention to the guest artists than the actual music, which is great and timeless.
