MY MOST PLAYED LIST MARCH 2019

March is over, winter is coming to an end, things are looking brighter weather-wise. But every season of the year is great for listening to dark, angry music. Because regardless of the weather, things are not looking too good in this world. For the love of Metal here is my list…

TOP 5 (In no particular order):

GJENDØD – Krigsdøger (Norway)

Released in March 2019, the duo delivers their 2nd full length album of that raw, not very produced Black Metal rooted in the 2nd wave. The despair and fury are what is all about.

LORD DYING – Poisoned Altars (USA)

Lord Dying from Portland Oregon is releasing their new album Mysterium Tremendum this month, therefor I revisited one of my favorite albums of 2015: Poisoned Altars, a great slab of Sludge with a twist. Playing this quite a lot, the needle of record player puts me right back to The Summer of Doom tour in 2015, when I first heard this band (in Atlanta with Crowbar and Battlecross) and became an instant fan.

NORDJEVEL – Necrogenesis (Norway)

A strong contender for Black Metal album of the year. It doesn’t get much better than this in 2019. The perfect soundtrack to the apocalypse.

SHINING – VI Klagospalmer (Sweden)

The 6th album from mastermind Niklas Kvarforth and his crew. Shining is a band I always come back to on a regular basis, this album divided fans when it arrived in 2009 after a few delays if I remember correctly. But I`m not going into a deep analysis, I love Shining and this is no different. Fat sounding Black Metal, still desperate but different…

SEA – SEA (Denmark)

The debut album of classic rock band SEA from 2014. A huge album, perhaps one of the absolute greatest debuts of the genre in this millennium. A power rhythm section paired with an amazing vocalist. A top tip is to also check out their 2nd album The Grip of Time (2017) of equal quality, sadly their last album before disbanding last year.
